Culture sportive et culture télévisuelle
Résumé
The 80’s are a turning point in the history of rugby, turning point intensified by the evolution of the public service broadcasting and the retirement of the legendary figure of the historical sportcaster of this sport. The changing media and sports landscape arouse strong reactions and clearcut stands.
These exchanges show the difficulties of the rugby world to enter the professional era, as well as the emotional attachment that spectators have with the public service television and a program that they consider as a legacy. At this turning point, where the world of rugby become fully aware of its mutations, to defend or criticize a sportcaster or a style of commentary is fighting for a certain idea of rugby.
