Determination of Power Factor and Harmonic Distortion of AC/DC LED Driver
Résumé
The efficiency of electrical energy has become the most important elements in the part of electrical and electronic systems partially in the lighting systems, for this reason the light-emitting diode (LED) lamps are widely used in recent years. Nevertheless, LED is a non-linear load which causes a very high harmonic current, and a low power factor PF, thus a poor power quality. Research is focused on reducing current harmonics and improving the power factor (PF) has intensified. In this paper, a comparative study between Passive Power Factor Corrector (PPFC) with different topologies and Active Power Factor Corrector (APFC). These types were modeled using the LTspice software and the input power factor (PF) and total harmonic distortion (THD) of each type is determined and analyzed.
