Thickness Dependence of Epoxy-Based Composites with BaTiO₃ Particles on AC Electrical Breakdown Strength

Résumé

This paper presents the study of the influence of the thickness and the concentration of high-k particles (BaTiO3) on composite AC breakdown where the matrix is an epoxy resin. The studied samples thicknesses are between 25 µm and 700 µm. The BaTiO3 particle concentration is ranging between 0 and 30 vol%. The AC breakdown results show an impact of the particle content on the breakdown as well as the thickness. A difference on the scale parameter "α", representative of the breakdown voltage, highlighted that the breakdown strength for the composites is proportional to ~d-0.5 (>200 µm), for all concentrations.
